Equitrekking.com is a one-stop site for equestrian travel. As a companion site to the national, high definition television series on Public Television, Equitrekking.com features a new video clip each week on our homepage, professional photos, travel articles, travel tips, an Expert’s Corner, Travel Guide, monthly newsletter… basically everything that visitors need to research and plan their riding vacations.
If you have a riding instructor and are unsure, ask your instructor. If not, below are some definitions to help you rate your ability.
Beginner = Has never ridden or has very little background in horseback riding.
Novice = Capable of walk, trot and short canters.
Intermediate = Walk, trot, and long canters. Rides regularly.
Strong Intermediate = Walk, Trot, Canter and Gallops. Rides regularly, firm seat and is comfortable and confident in the saddle for at least 6 hours per day.
Advanced = Everything listed above plus independent seat and elastic hands. Able to handle a spirited horse.
