Wilderness Trails Ranch (CO)
Colorado

In Depth
Rare is the opportunity to spend time in a place as beautiful and significant as Wilderness Trails Ranch. WTR is a mountain oasis getaway and a place to reconnect, to rekindle, to rejuvenate, to seek adventure, or to simply relax. Experience the perfected art of western hospitality at WTR, owned and operated by the Roberts family since 1970. From its top-rate riding program to its award-winning youth program for never-bored kids, from adventure water sports to hot stone massage, Wilderness Trails offers the perfect vacation for kids from 3 to 83.
Wilderness Trails Ranch is located in the stunning and secluded Pine River Valley, just upstream from gorgeous Vallecito Lake. Only 35 miles from Durango, Colorado, yet snuggled a world away between two protected wilderness areas that preserve an abundance of wildlife, crystal clear streams, open meadows, high mountain vistas, and vast mountain forests covering thousands of acres.
Quality time is spent with both timid beginners and avid riders. Whether guests are making a first connection with their horse or challenging themselves trailblazing, working cattle, or learning to ride without a bridle, the friendly wrangling staff has something to offer everyone.
Attentive and adventurous counselors spearhead customized programs for 3-5, 6-10, 11-12 and 13-17 year olds. An endless menu of riding, water sports, games, and activities keeps children active and engaged.
Not riding? A true variety of activities is offered: try guided or non-guided fishing, swim or soak, tour Mesa Verde, hike, water-ski, indulge in a massage or spa service, kick up your heels at the weekly dance, or take it all in from the porch of your private cabin. You may never see so many stars again!
