Wine Country Trail Rides (CA)
California

In Depth
Wine Country Trail Rides is located in the heart of the beautiful Sonoma Valley in Northern California's famous Wine Country.
Only 45 Minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge visitors can explore the scene of beautiful Wine Country by taking a horseback ride through the Vineyard and learn about Wine Making, the history of the Sonoma and Napa Valley and learn about horses and horsemanship on the property where the world famous Seabiscuit once trained and the Old Sonoma Rodeo took place. Many visitors have enjoyed our breathtaking views of the Carneros Region, as well as touring the Wines like the Vintners did in former times.
Wine Country Trail Rides is owned and operated by Rafael Hernandez. Rafael was born and raised in Santa Barbara and has explored the world on horseback himself while playing professional World Class Polo about 30 years of his career.
Growing up with horses and training young horses for Polo and Trail use he brings a lifetime experience and passion into his own business.
He was the pioneer in the concept of taking guided horseback tours through the Vineyards and has been successfully running his business since 1998.
We - Wine Country Trail Rides - only equip ourselves with experienced guides for our Trail Rides and Covered Wagon Tours who have been working and training World Class horses and bring a lifelong experience of horsemanship with them. All Horseback tours are suitable for all levels of riders.
We have Quarter Horses, Thoroughbreds, Mustangs and 2 Percheron Draft Mules and will fit you with one of our gentle horses to match your riding level.
We also train World Class Polo horses in the Vineyard and have ourselves equipped for not only guided rides but also covered Wagon Tours, Polo Lessons, English Riding Lessons and Western Riding Lessons from the beginner to the advanced level.
We are open all year around and reservations are recommended to be made in advance to ensure that we can accommodate you but we also accept reservations at any time and on short notice if availability is given.
The most beautiful time to visit Wine Country is anytime between March and October when the sun will make the grapes grow and our guests smile. Harvest Season is held from September until early November, depending on the kind of Wine the Vintner is making. Harvest is one of the most interesting seasons of the year and while being on horseback our guests get to taste the variety of grapes growing on property.
We invite all of our guests for a Wine Tasting after the ride which cannot be missed when visiting Wine Country.
