El Charabon is a 2000 acre estancia in the deprtament of Rocha very close to the Atlantic Ocean and the beach. The ranch is owned by Jorge and Graciela. El Charabon is a working ranch with around 650 Hereford cattle, 500 Hampshire Down sheep and 30 horses. El Charabon welcomes guests, mainly from Europe and USA, who want to ride, herd cattle, walk, go birdwatching and rest in a pleasant landscape. Experienced riders can go on an all-day treks to the coast.
It's a four hour ride across three neighbouring estancias to the low key fishing village of La Pedrera. The reward is a picnic and miles of dune-backed sands to gallop across, as well as crashing surf. The coast here is wild and almost deserted.

El Charabon has 9 rooms, each with private bath and comfortable beds (sommiers). Superior rooms have air conditioning, refrigerators with bars.
Two living rooms, play room, boutique, barbecue for 50 guests, billards, DirecTV, Wi-Fi and central heating.

International and local cuisine is served in El Charabon.
Specially trained chefs prepare 4 meals per day. Our barbecue is a good atraction for beef eaters. Pork and lamb are the best dishes. Food for vegetarians is available.

Santa Teresa National Park, the 18th century fort, San Miguel now a hotel, protected dunes of Cabo polonio, Isla de los Ombues, Universal Heritage. Punta del Diablo a fishing village, La paloma, La Pedrera and Punta del Este.

The estancia has 950 hectares, of which 150 are planted with eucaliptus and natural forests. The ranch breeds Hereford and Polled Hereford and wool-bearing of Hampshire Down sheep.
