Horse riders and lovers take note: "Equitrekking," an international
travel television series that explores the world on horseback, is heading to Wyoming, according to a press release we received this week.

It is part of a tour of the West, specifically the Rocky Mountains, to finish filming its new, six-episode series in high definition for public television. The shows, which will air in 2007 in high definition, seemingly put viewers in the saddle beside host and producer Darley Newman, an equestrian travel journalist, according to Sally Berkowit, with Classic Communications.

"Host Darley Newman will be in Cody on July 30 to Aug. 1, she will then head to the UXU Ranch (Wapiti) for two days and will conclude her trip by spending a few days at the T Cross Ranch (Dubois), departing on Aug. 8," Berkowit said.

After Wyoming, "Equitrekking" heads to northern Colorado for Cutting Horse Dream Week at the Colorado Cattle Company and to Durango to ride and learn horsemanship at Wilderness Trails Ranch in the foothills of the San Juan Mountains. The final destination on this trip is Albuquerque, N.M., where Darley will interview Barbara Clark, executive director of the Foundation for the Pure Spanish Horse at the Vista Sandia Equestrian Facility. There they will delve deeper into Spanish horses and their influence on American breeds.
