Video Clip Transcript

Darley:  We’re driving South to the lakeside village of North Hatley, a short distance from the U.S. border. We’re riding with Jacques Robidas, whose horses give us an energetic welcome. Jacques focuses on wellness and self-discovery through horses and helps riders explore this interesting area of Quebec on horseback.

Darley: What makes this area of North Hatley unique?
Jacques Robidas: Well, I’ve traveled a lot and it’s the only place where I find that peace and this energy that you feel all around you.

Darley: North Hatley has been influenced by American, French and British settlers. There’s New England architecture, French food and British town names.

Darley: North Hatley is part of Quebec’s Eastern townships, which were settled colonists who sided with England during and after the American Revolution. Unhappy with the outcome, these British loyalists left America to preserve their British heritage here in Quebec. Other people would find their way here as well.
