Scarlett Oak Equestrian Centre is the ultimate New Zealand equestrian escape, located in Christchurch, situated on a tranquil property a mere 15 minutes from a major airport and 20 minutes from town.

This brand new facility offers a variety of vacation packages to suit international guest riders. Riding vacation packages, each with a variety of choices, include clinics by international riders, opportunities to compete and foxhunt, side trips to wineries and spas, as well as golf and Cross Country riding. Spa treatments are also available in the privacy of your cottage. 

What could be better than a week’s stay in the beautiful horsey province of Canterbury, New Zealand? New Zealand has produced some of the great eventers and to ride in New Zealand is to experience the spirit and freedom of the region. We specialize in eventing, but also offer instruction in dressage and show jumping. Our riding programs run from Wednesday morning to Saturday afternoon but can be extended or shortened to suit your needs. During your stay, adding to lessons on the property, the team will take you trekking to the nearby river shore or for a breeze on the beach. There is cross country schooling at the nearby National Equestrian Centre that hosts FEI *** Competitions.

Activities

Celine Falletta, Equestrian Centre Manager and Chief Riding Instructor, has over 20 years of international experience in the horse industry (in Africa, France, Spain, Ireland, California, Hawaii and New Zealand). She has competition experience in various disciplines such as dressage, show jumping, cross country, show hunter and equitation, but she is an event rider at heart. The facility reflects this love of eventing with a complete cross country and derby course as well as an all-weather 20m x 60m dressage arena and an all-weather 40m x 60m show jumping arena, complete with show jumps.

Some activities include horseback riding on the beach, cross country, dressage, english riding, hunter/ jumper, hunts, spectator events, and the spa.

Accommodations

Accommodations include two-bedroom self-contained cottages on the grounds, with a private garden and view of the grass paddocks. Spa treatments are also available in the privacy of your cottage, (prices vary). For guests staying onsite, check in is on Tuesday at 2pm and check out Sunday morning at 10 am.

Food

Breakfast included. For an additional fee the host will even fill your cottage kitchen with your favorite goodies. Give them a shopping list (food and drinks) and they will shop for you before your arrival. Appetizer (finger food) menu (dinner only) and drinks are also available.
