The Padlock Ranch is a place where guests come to live the legacy! This legacy is founded on sound and enduring principles, such as land stewardship, quality stockmanship, honesty and hard work. It is here that guests experience these principles first hand, while spending a week on an authentic Wyoming working cattle ranch.

As ranch hands on the 6th largest cow/calf operation in the US, which encompasses more than 450,000 acres spread across parts of Wyoming and Montana, guests will experience what we consider the ultimate working ranch vacation. There is no other ranch of this magnitude offering ranch vacations. Our guests come and ride the ranch’s finest ranch horses to assist as a member of the cowhand crew. Padlock Ranch guests actively participate in routine cattle drives, gathering and sorting, as well as checking for health issues and doctoring as needed. Guests enjoy a relaxing atmosphere full of good times, good food, good friends, and the scenic outdoors.

Activities

This is a working cattle ranch vacation with opportunities for participating in cattle drives, rodears, brandings, ranch sortings and working ranch horsemanship.

Accommodations

Guests are sure to find our lodge to be one of the finest on any working ranch. It is constructed of large, finely finished logs and furnished with plush cowboy décor. The bedrooms are equipped with their own private bathroom and are available with either two twin beds or one King sized bed. Most rooms can be exited directly to the lodge veranda.

Additionally the lodge is equipped with three common areas where guests can spend time either visiting around the fire place, watching TV, or shooting pool. The lodge’s hot tub can also be appealing for helping to mend ailed muscles. Wireless internet is also available throughout the lodge. 

Food

Delicious ranch cooked meals are what guests will find at our dinning room table. The day starts with a hardy cowboy breakfast. Tasty box lunches are served on the trail, on the range, or wherever else guests are for the day. Satisfying ranch style dinners with fresh baked breads and desserts will be served at the end of the day. Special diets are catered to with advance notice.

Historic down town Sheridan voted #1 western town in America, Don King Saddlery and Museum, Trail End State Historic Site, The Battle of the Little Bighorn, Fetterman Battlefield, Wagon Box, Fort Phil Kearny, Yellowstone and Badlands National Parks and Mount Rushmore National Monument are within a half days drive of the ranch.
