On these horseback safaris, trek alongside the Masai Mara and through the northern ranches are on fairly open plains where you find black cotton soil interspersed with acacia bush. Many areas have short grass plains ideal for riding. Care must be taken for holes but guests can enjoy canters and gallops on the open plains. Depending on the time of year and itinerary, you may spot zebra, topi, giraffes, buffalo, lion, wildebeest, gazelle, hippos and there is a good chance of seeing elephant and buffalo as well.

Mostly luxury camping with some lodge accommodations. Guests may stay in small, exclusive lodges with a maximum of 14 beds, including Deloraine and Sosian, offering old colonial splendor. Deloraine was built by Lord Francis Scott in 1920. Set in the middle of a 3500 acre farm, it is one of the finest examples of colonial architecture in Kenya. Deloraine reflects the elegant lifestyle of a bygone era. Sosian is an old private game ranch located on the Laikipia Plateau, an area well known for its abundant wildlife and strong ranching traditions. Originally built in the 1940s by Italian artisans, the old ranch house has been beautifully renovated into a comfortable lodge. Other options available as well, depending on the itinerary.
All food is fresh and tasty, including during picnic lunches out on the trails. Guides carry dry ice and cubes and are self sufficient for the week. Bread is baked daily on open fires by well-trained camp chefs. Breakfasts may include full English fare, cereals, freshly baked breads, and porridge. You will be pleasantly surprised by all of the meals. Wine, beer, spirits and sodas are included.
