Lone Mountain Ranch was first homesteaded as a working cattle ranch in 1915 and since then, generations of owners, guests and crew have been inspired by the love of this land to create the exceptional experience that this Montana guest ranch provides today. The Ranch is a member of the National Dude Rancher’s Association, an Orvis® Endorsed Fly-Fishing Lodge and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. During the summer months, the Ranch offers guided horseback riding in the Gallatin National Forest, Lee Metcalf Wilderness and Yellowstone National Park, guided hiking, fly-fishing on many of the area’s many blue ribbon trout waters, an outstanding Kids Program (ages 4-18), canoeing trips and Yellowstone National Park tours. All of the dude ranch adventures are expertly guided by those who live in the area and call the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem home. This Montana guest ranch also has live music in the saloon and an amazing summer menu in their Dining Room.
The Ranch transforms into a winter wonderland December through March and is a favorite of winter enthusiasts. Lone Mountain Guest Ranch hosts guests for 4 to 7 nights, offering an all-inclusive package with meals, accommodations in a cozy cabin or the Ridgetop Lodge and numerous activities in both winter and summer seasons.
Lone Mountain Guest Ranch offers Yellowstone Park tours with 7 nights stays only (less than 7 nights will be an additional charge), and Yellowstone National Park riding is an additional charge. All day rides will be
offered from the ranch.
Stretched amongst the towering pines of this Rocky Mountain valley are scattered a collection of private log cabins. North Fork Creek winds its way through the retreat providing a soothing accompaniment. Each cabin is unique and secluded. Every detail is considered. Outfitted with lodgepole pine furniture, replete with featherbeds and patchwork quilts, a private bath, woodburning stove or fireplace and electric heat these are genuinely special places to stay.
The cuisine at Lone Mountain Guest Ranch is inspired by the bounty of the Northwestern Rockies and takes advantage of locally produced offerings when possible and prepared to satisfy the kind of appetite that develops after exploring the outdoors. Breakfasts typically unfold with the likes of flax seed waffles, local bacon and Hutterite eggs while dinner may include such Northern Rocky Mountain cuisine as Kobe beef, elk and vegetarian options that exceed even the most grandiose expectations. All manner of dietary restrictions are personally accommodated and the options afforded our guests are frequently cited as highlight of their stay. Trailside Buffets and Sunday Brunch are also favorites of guests, locals and visitors alike.
Summer ranch activities include horseback riding, guided hikes, kids program, canoeing, Yellowstone tours, fly-fishing, mountain biking and nearby ziplining and whitewater rafting. Winter activities include cross country skiing, snowshoeing, backcountry skiing, sleigh rides, Yellowstone snowcoach trips, winter fishing, alpine skiing and dogsledding.
