About Jordan & the Wadi Rum Desert
Larger than the country of Portugal and smaller than the U.S. state of Indiana, Jordan is a kingdom in the Middle East well worth discovering. The Bedouin, tribes of desert nomads who are thought to have been some of the original breeders of Arabian horses, have a rich culture. They survive in the sometimes harsh conditions in the desert and will teach you much as you ride with them through the Wadi Rum, whose landscapes were made famous by the epic film Lawrence of Arabia.

The Wadi Rum Desert is called ‘The Valley of the Moon.’ Large pink, red and white sandstone formations striated with lines of black, and pockmarked with crevices rise up to bright blue cloudless skies. The desert is stunning. There are areas of rocky sand mixed with large sugary sand dunes, surprising patches of greenery, imposing mountains and large sandstone monuments decorated with 2500 year-old petroglyphs.
