The Bucking S Ranch is located in the midst of traditional cattle ranch country in the heart of Wyoming. If you are looking for beautiful western scenery, sound ranch horses, abundant wildlife and a real working cattle ranch combined with well appointed western accommodations with your comfort in mind, this is the place for you.

In order to provide you with a unique and personal ranch vacation, we limit our guest numbers to a maximum of twelve guests per week. Our small guest numbers allow us to customize our horseback rides and other ranch related activities to your expectations and level of experience. Based on your riding experience, every guest gets two horses assigned for the week out of our string of over 50 horses. Throughout the week, you have the opportunity to experience a good mix of scenic pleasure rides and working cattle. Since we not only rotate our own cattle from pasture to pasture but also help neighboring ranches, we stay busy every given week of the season. The rides go cross country and there is no nose-to-tail riding. Depending on your comfort level you can walk, trot, and canter across tens of thousands of acres of diverse terrain. You will enjoy the stunning views, the vast uninhabited open spaces around us and the absolute absence of any signs or noise of modern day life. You can get involved in the ranch and cattle work as much or little as you like.

Our ranch is located close to the North Platte River as well as three lakes that offer excellent opportunities for swimming and fishing as an off ranch activity during the summer. On your own time, there are endless opportunities for hiking and wildlife watching or you can practice your roping and trap shooting skills with our wranglers. The ranch has been a family cattle ranch since we bought it in 2003 and turned it into a working cattle and guest ranch.

We look forward to the opportunity to provide you with a unique and fun filled ranch vacation and outdoor adventure!

Accommodations

The main ranch house, a beautiful log home, is open to our guests for dining, entertaining and relaxation. The atmosphere is casual and you can enjoy the advantages of a small group setting. If you just like to kick-back and enjoy the ranch atmosphere, you find plenty of cozy and comfortable places to wind down. Enjoy the afternoon reading a good book on your front porch, relax in the hot tub after a long day in the saddle, shoot some pool or settle in front of the wood stove and share your day’s adventure with fellow guests.

Yard and table games are available at all times for play time. You will stay in comfortable and cozy log cabins, and we have one spacious guest room in the main lodge. All rooms have private bath and are individually furnished with western décor, a stove and sitting area. You can choose from either a king size bed, two twin beds or full size bunk beds. For larger groups or families we have a two bedroom, one bathroom cabin with its own kitchen and spacious living room.

Food

During your ranch stay, you will be treated to wholesome home cooked meals served buffet style. We serve em' up in cowboy sized portions including a full ranch breakfast, hot lunch or sack lunch if we go on all day rides and at night we always complement our deliciously varied main course with plenty of fresh vegetables, salads, homemade breads and desserts. The coffee and tea pot are always on, the cookie jar full and fresh fruits, lemonade and ice tea are available at all times. We recognize and appreciate guests' variance in appetites. With advance notice, we will do our best to satisfy yours.

Area Attractions

The ranch is situated halfway between Rocky Mountain and Yellowstone National Park. Many of our guests visit the parks before or after their stay at the ranch. Cheyenne Frontier Days takes place in July and is just a short drive away. For the avid fly fishermen, the “Miracle Mile” on the North Platte River, a world class blue-ribbon trout fishery and one of the best fishing holes in Wyoming, is only a few miles away.
