Meet Your Host - Southern Cross Guest Ranch

Journey to Central Georgia to experience life on a horse farm at Southern Cross Guest Ranch.

Southern Cross Guest Ranch is a horse-lover's destination that you can visit year-round, but March to June each year, when over two dozen foals are born at the ranch, is a special time to visit.

In this Meet Your Host interview, Noel Detienne tells us what it's like for guests to visit Georgia's Historic Heartland to ride at Southern Cross.

Equitrekking: What is most special about Southern Cross Guest Ranch?

Noel Detienne:
Southern Cross Ranch is bona fide horse farm with over 200 horses to admire. Guests love spending time with all of them, but especially the newborn foals.

Equitrekking: What is the history of your Southern Cross Guest Ranch?

Noel Detienne:
Over 25 years ago Inge Wendling, the owner, started breeding and raising show quality Paint and Quarter horses out of her passion for the animals. In 1986, her renowned APHA stallion, Heirloom, stood Reserve World Champion.

Today, Inge proudly showcases Mister Magnificent, a descendant of Heirloom and 2002 APHA World Champion 3-year old stallion.

About 15 years ago, she realized that she could share this experience with others by allowing them to spend days or even weeks on the ranch and "live a dream" of being on a horse farm.

Equitrekking: What level of rider do you need to be to visit your Southern Cross?

Noel Detienne: Having such a large selection of horses allows Southern Cross to accommodate riders of any level age 9 and over. Of course, unguided riding is also available for riders with the ability to do so.

Equitrekking: Do guests have a favorite activity either in or out of the saddle? If so, what?

Noel Detienne: Guests enjoy many things. The horseback riding is likely the favorite, but the freedom to go out and take a walk in the pasture with 40+ horses is also a favorite guest pastime.
